
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspected drug dealer on new allegations after a traffic stop.
Just after 9 p.m. February 16, a deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a black 2007 Chrysler Town & Country minivan in the 700 block of NE Wabash Avenue, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.-
During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on a warrant out of the Kickapoo Tribal Reservation. A K-9 Unit assisted and illegal narcotics were also located.
Bertrand A. Wheaton, 42, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for his warrant and requested charges of Distribution of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Distribution or possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia, Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Driving while license suspended and No vehicle liability insurance.
He has previous convictions for theft, making false writing, DUI and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
