Kansas man dies after violent motorcycle crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 11:30p.m. Friday in Sedgwick County. 

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Harley Davidson driven by Jess J. Chavez, 51, Wichita, was morthbound on Interstate 235 just north of West Street.  The motorcycle traveled off  the road, entered the median and struck the guardrail. The driver  was thrown from the motorcycle into the guardrail and a fence and  came to rest in the roadway.  The motorcycle continued Northbound riderless, crossing the median and southbound lanes of Interstate 235. It travled through the fence and came to rest on Bolin Drive, west of the Interestate.

Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Forensics Center. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
