Sheriff: Child dead after medical incident on Kansas highway

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating an incident that left a child dead on a Kansas highway.

Just after 5:30p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies and Johnson County Med-Act responded to a medical incident on eastbound Kansas 10 at Kill Creek Road, according to a statement from the Johnson County Sheriff's office.

First responders found an adult and two children in the vehicle. One child was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported the other child to an area hospital. Eastbound traffic was slowed near the scene to allow first responders to work. The sheriff's office released no additional details.
