Kan. man accused in theft of kayak, UTV and van worth $99,000

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a series of thefts and have a suspect in custody.

On April 17, loss prevention from a local business located in the 2400 block of North Greenwich in Wichita reported theft and vandalism in their parking lot, according to a media release from police.

Loss Prevention stated a U-Haul truck with a trailer pulled into the lot and cut multiple cables that secured their outside merchandise and stole one of their Kayaks.

On April 20, Officers from the Wichita East Community Policing gathered intelligence and learned that the U-Haul truck was stolen and located at a residence in Andover.

With the assistance of the Andover Police Department and other Patrol East officers, they located and recovered the Kayak valued at $1,100 and stolen from the 2400 block of North Greenwich, a 2023 Polaris Pro XD 400D Valued at $18,826 and stolen from the 9100 block of West Kellogg and a 2015 Ford Econoline E450 valued at $80,000 and stolen from the 900 block of South Woodlawn for a total Value of 99,926 dollars.

Andover police also recovered property from at least two construction site burglaries and a shoplift from a store in Andover. Andover Police booked 53-year-old Kenneth Albert from Andover for multiple theft charges. The property was returned to its rightful owners.
