DOUGLAS COUNTY —Detectives working to determine who stabbed an elderly woman in her home in Lawrence now say they do not believe this incident was criminal in nature. No suspect is being sought, and there is no known threat to the public related to this investigation.
Just after 1p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Beatnik Court in Lawrence and found the woman inside the home with life-threatening injuries, according to a social media report. Police did not know when the attack occurred.
The woman was alone and not able to provide significant details to first responders. Detectives were able to speak briefly with her before she was taken into surgery.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical medics transported her to an area trauma center, accompanied by an officer.
