Caller helps police catch Kansas car burglary suspect

JOHNSON COUNTY— Law enforcement with help from the public made a burglary arrest.

Just before 2:30a.m. Sunday, a caller to reported to police an auto burglary in progress near Maurer Road and West 65th Street in the city of Shawnee, according to a social media report from police.

Officers quickly arrived and found two suspects wearing masks. Officers established a perimeter and arrested one suspect near the scene. He was in possession of a credit card from a previous auto burglary. Officers later identified the second suspect. Police thanked the observant caller for quickly contacting the Shawnee Police Department and preventing additional auto burglaries.
