Suspect accused of killing 75-year-old Kansas woman

JOHNSON COUNTY — A suspect arrested in connection with the death of a Kansas woman in her home is set to face a judge Monday.

Just after 4:30p.m. Friday police booked 47-year-old Dartanan Hudgens into the Johnson County jail in connection with the death of 75-year-old Karen M. Peterson.

On Thursday, police reported they were conducting a homicide investigation in Olathe and identified the victim sa Peterson, according to Police Sergeant John Moncayo.

Just after 11a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Persimmon Drive in Olathe to check on the welfare of Peterson according to Officer Sean Wilkes. At the home, first responders found her deceased inside the residence.  Police have not released how she died.

Hudgens, who has no permanent address, according the arrest report, is being held on a $1 million dollar bond on requested charges of premeditated first-degree murder, according to online jail records.
