SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement arrested an 18-year-old Wichita man in connection with a shooting that injured an 18-year-old man early Thursday morning, according to a statement from Wichita Police.
At 3:00 a.m. on July 23, police responded to reports of gunshots in the 3200 block of S. All Hallows in Wichita after multiple neighbors reported hearing shots fired.
A short time later, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of S. Hydraulic for a reported shooting. Officers arrived and located a white Dodge Charger that had been struck by gunfire.
The occupants of the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, and a 25-year-old man, told officers they were inside the Charger when it was struck by gunfire. The 18-year-old man sustained a graze wound to his upper body and was treated for a minor injury. The two others were not injured.
During the investigation, patrol officers determined the two incidents were connected. Officers identified an 18-year-old suspect, identified in county booking records as Aaiden Brault, believed to be associated with the area where the initial reports of gunfire originated in the 3200 block of S. All Hallows.
The preliminary investigation indicates Brault fired multiple rounds while driving, striking the victims' vehicle. The circumstances of what led up to the shooting are still under investigation.
Investigators and officers worked continuously throughout the day, following leads from the time the incident was reported early that morning until Brault was located later that afternoon. Once Brault was found, officers quickly took him into custody after a brief foot pursuit without incident.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office for review and consideration of formal charges.
