Storms flood Geary Co., cause partial building collapse in Junction City

GEARY COUNTY —A strong thunderstorm brought flooding rain and did considerable damage in Junction City and other areas of Geary County on Friday.

The storm cause a build to partially collapse in the 600 block of North Washington in Junction City. The structure was vacant and there were no injuries.

Also in Junction City there is tree damage in addition to multiple power outages. Emergency Management Director Garry Berges said rainfall recorded at McFarland Road. and U.S 77 totaled 5.97 inches.:

According to Geary County Emergency Management, many areas and basements are flooding due heavy rain. Unless you have medical emergency first responders were unable to assist.

Sheriff Eric Coffman said that there were power outages in Milford State Park and Old Milford Road areas. 

Junction City Police urged residents to stay home, do not travel.  There were powerlines down across the city and crews continue working to remove debris and powerlines from the roads.
