Just after 4a.m. May 18, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Escape for a traffic violation near 110th Road on U.S. Highway 75, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The driver, 62-year-old Dewayne Marshall Anderson, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of stolen property, transporting an open container, illegal registration and no insurance.
The passenger, 43-year-old Stella Marie Mahkuk, of Horton, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of cocaine, possession of methampehtamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container.
