
SHAWNEE COUNTY—A member of the Kansas House of Representatives spent most of Monday in Jail. According to online jail records Carl Maughan, 52, of Colwich, was arrested early Monday in Shawnee County.

Maughan, a Republican who represents Kansas House District 90 , was booked into jail at 4a.m. on requested charges that include possession of firearm while under influence of alcohol or drugs, Failure To Give Signal When Changing Lanes or Turning and Improper Driving On Laned Roadway, according to the county booking report.
His committee assignments include the Corrections and Juvenile Justice Committee, Financial Institutions and Pensions Committee, House Judiciary Committee, Rules and Journal Committee and the Special Claims Against the State Committee, according to his online statehouse bio.
Just after 2:30p.m. Monday, Maughan was released from jail, according to online jail records. Police have released no additional details.
