Police: KC man told witness he would kill victim and he did

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal shooting have filed charges against a 44-year-old Kansas City man.

William F. Betts has been charged with 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action  in connection with the Dec. 27, fatal shooting of Naaman Williams at a KC residence, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 60th and Agnes Avenue on a reported shooting. They found the victim, 46-year-old Naaman Williams on the steps of a residence. He was declared deceased at the scene. Witnesses told police detectives that the victim and defendant had recently been in an altercation. Betts told one witness he would kill the victim. Betts remains jailed on a $250,000 bond, according to the district attorney's offie.
