SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are crediting two off-duty police officers for helping catch a suspect on vandalism allegations.
Just after 9 p.m. August 28, police responded to SW Westport Drive and SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka after receiving reports of vandalism.
Two off-duty Topeka officers witnessed the incident and were able to provide dispatch with a good description and direction of travel for the suspect.
Responding officers quickly located the suspect, later identified as Zac D. Bibler, 20, of Topeka, in the 1500 block of SW Westport Drive. Bibler then refused to comply with officers and fled on foot.
A short while later Bibler was taken into custody, arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Criminal damage to property; Without consent value $1000 to $25,000 and felony Interference with Law enforcement.
