
SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting and have identified a suspect identified as 43-year-old Larry Powell. He is described 5-foot 4, 217 pounds and is believed to be driving a dark colored van with 60-day tags.

Just after 5p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to a shooting at a motel in the 5700 block of West Kellogg Drive in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
First responders located a 50-year-old man unconscious and not breathing with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers began providing life-saving efforts until EMS arrived.

The victim, from Santa Cruz, California, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that the victim had a verbal altercation with Powell. That argument turned physical at which point the Powell allegedly started shooting and striking the victim once.
Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the relationship between the victim and the Powell.
