Schmidt also explained the Save Act
"We're not de-funding courts, said House Speaker Mike Johnson. "We're not doing anything other than limiting, in this legislation, the ability of a judge to issue a nationwide injunction."
Derek Schmidt served as the Kansas Attorney General from 2011 to 2023. He was first elected to office serving in the Kansas Senate representing the 15th district from 2001 to 2011. In 2022, Schmidt was the Republican nominee for governor of Kansas.
