INMAN, Kan. — According to the McPherson County Sheriff's Office, the Inman Police Department and Sheriff's Office personnel, including the McPherson County SRT responded to an ongoing situation involving shots fired in the 300 block of South Maple Street in Inman, KS. The person of interest was in custody as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities on the scene secured the area. Emergency services, including local law enforcement and medical teams assisted in the response.
Schools in USD 488 Inman were closed Wednesday due to the police activity.
Residents in the immediate area were still asked to stay clear until the scene is released.

According to a social media report from the school district, "To prioritize the safety of our students and staff we are following the guidance of Law Enforcement to cancel all school (IES, IJH, IHS) and all district activities for Wednesday, December 18.
Inman Police Department made the school district aware of an incident in which is being handled.
