Police capture Kansas shooting suspect

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and have made an arrest.

Just before 11p.m. June 18, police responded to report of a shooting near the intersection of NE Monroe Street and NE Gordon Street, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

Officers identified one individual with an apparent gunshot wound. The individual was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital to be treated with life-threatening injuries.

Just before 9:30p.m. Thursday police booked 41-year-old Dustin F. Tibbits of Topeka into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Attempted voluntary manslaughter; unreasonable belief or justified deadly force; Aggravated battery; Knowingly use weapon cause get body harm/disfigure/death and Interference with LEO; Conceal/alter/destroy evidence in felony case.

Police released no additional details on the victim.
