Kansas man back in jail after alleged stabbing

RENO COUNTY â€” Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing and have a suspect in custody.

 Timothy Peters, 56, Hutchinson, went to a residence at 20 E. 15th Street where he is accused of breaking down a door and confronting a man and woman, according to a media release.

One of the victims identified as Demetrius Burgess got into a physical altercation with Peters. The fight spilled out into the front yard when Peters pulled a knife and stabbed Burgess in the stomach, according to the police.

EMS transported Burgess to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police arrested Peters on requested charges of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. He is being held on a bond of $10,000.

Peters had been on community corrections since October 2019 following four or more DUI convictions, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
