Police ID woman who died after shooting in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of another woman in the area of 29th and Montgall Avenue in Kansas City, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Brandon K. Bowman, 21, faces felony charges of Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and three counts of Armed Criminal Action.

 On Sunday Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 27th and Brooklyn Avenue on a reporting shooting, according to court records.

A victim of the shooting told police that she and her friend had been shot by a person named "Brandon." Officers arrived on scene and found two female victims.

One was transported to St. Luke's Hospital and the other was transported to Truman Medical Center and was later confirmed deceased. She was identified as Solana Sagun, Police reviewed surveillance video of the defendant exiting his residence with a firearm drawn and firing on the victim’s vehicle.

The surviving victim told police she had driven to the defendant's residence because her friend wanted to get her phone charger from the defendant. Prosecutors requested a $100,000 cash bond.
