Suspect wanted by U.S. Marshals captured during Kan. traffic stop

JACKSON COUNTY– Law enforcement are investigating a wanted suspect on new drug allegations. 

Just after 3:30 p.m. September 26, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Taurus for multiple alleged traffic infractions near 118th road on U.S. Hwy 75, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

During the course of the traffic stop, a K9 detected the odor of illegal drugs or narcotics within the vehicle. A passenger of the vehicle was identified as Steven Christopher Lee, 49, of Topeka.  It was discovered Lee was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.  A probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle and resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Lee was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
