2 hospitalized after plane crash into building at Kansas airport

JOHNSON COUNTY— Two people were injured in a small plane crash that occurred just before 1:30p.m. Monday in Johnson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Beech King Air piloted by Leslie Gorden, 73, Lee's Summit, Missouri, was southbound when a mechanical malfunction caused the left engine to become inoperable. The pilot lost control of airplane turning left and crashing into the roof of a building at the New Century AirCenter, 1 New Century Parkway, Gardner, Kansas.

EMS transported  Gordon and a passenger Delaney Rindal, 30, Wasilla, Arkansas, to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
