Driver caught traveling 111mph on Kansas highway

DECATUR COUNTY —Law enforcement across the state continue to encounter driver traveling well beyone the posted speed limit.

On Friday, Decatur County Sheriff Dave Wachendorfer stopped a vehicle for 111 mph in a posted 65 mph zone south of Oberlin, acording to a social media report from the sheriff's office.

The driver admitted to doing 80, which is still well above the speed limit. "There were a lot of trucks on the road Friday morning interspersed with drivers traveling to work," the sheriff's office wrote.  "The potential for a catastrophic collision was pretty high.

"Slow down"  "Speed can kill, and the time you save is not worth the potential disaster awaiting you down the road and extremely high fine. This driver is facing a fine of approximately $550. "Drive safely and Arrive Alive."
