SEDGWICK —A jury on Friday convicted a Kansas felon for the murder of a woman at a Wichita motel.
The jury found 42-year-old Ricky Hollins guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Stephanie Duran, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office. Hollins was also originally charged with buying sexual relations, according the district attorney's office.
Just after 10a.m. October 22, 2020, police responded to a call of an unresponsive woman in a room at the Budget Motel in the 1300 Block of South Broad in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson. A staff member of the motel located Duran in the room and called the police.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The following evening, police arrested and booked Hollins into the Sedgwick County Jail, according to online jail records. He remains jailed on $200,000 bond.
Hollins has two previous drug convictions in Sedgwick County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
