Police investigating after Kan. girl struck and killed by SUV

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating weekend pedestrian accident that left a child dead.

Just after 5:30p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle in 7000 block of W. 13th Street  in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

First responders found a 12-year-old pedestrian who had been struck by a westbound Jeep SUV. EMS transported the girl to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The Wichita Police Department's Critical Accident Team is conducting a thorough investigation, interviewing witnesses to gather additional information on the incident.
