JOHNSON COUNTY — Law enforcement are investigating a car linked to a missing person that was pulled from a Leawood retention pond on Saturday morning.
A volunteer dive team using a GIS satellite image, deployed sonar equipment to search the pond located in the 14700 block of Norwood. A diver descended to investigate a large metal object detected by sonar and discovered a car with a license plate that matched a vehicle connected to a missing person, raising hopes for closure in the investigation.
Leawood Police were notified just before noon of the team’s discovery. With help from the Overland Park Police Department’s dive team, a tow truck successfully removed the vehicle from the pond. LPD is working to notify the missing person’s family
