KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting and have identified the victim as 26-year-old Theophlius Johnson III, according to Captain Corey Carlisle.
Just before 5 pm Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 2000 block of Oakley.
Upon arrival, officers located Johnson lying out front of a residence unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS arrived on scene and declared Johnson deceased, according to Carlisle.
A person of interest in the case is still at large. There is not an immediate threat to the public at this time. The circumstances surrounding the homicide appear to be the result of an argument.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel processed the scene to recover any evidence and speak to any potential witnesses. Police released no additional details.
