
ELLIS COUNTY — A police officer was killed responding to a domestic violence call Saturday night in Hays.
Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, police responded a report of a domestic violence situation in the 2200 block of Downing Avenue, according to a media release from Hays Police. When the responding officer arrived, the suspect fired shots at the officer.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased.
Hays Police said there are no additional suspects being sought in connection with the incident.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is in charge of the investigation.
