KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces charges in connection to a deadly house fire that occurred Monday in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ryan I. Willis, 36, is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Murder and 1st Degree Arson, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
On August 18, Kansas City police responded to a residence regarding a reported arson. Firefighters entered the residence and removed a victim identified as 59-year-old Shirley Willis, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. She was pronounced deceased.
Detectives reviewed camera footage tha showed her son, Ryan Willis, on the front porch setting objects on fire. Pimolice took h into custody without incident.
A Jackson County judge set Willis' bond at $250,000.
