Police: Kan. woman set fire in ex-husband's home

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a woman for alleged arson.

Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to 3215 24th Street in Great Bend in reference to a burglary in progress, according to a media release.

Anthony Shives, age 38, reported someone inside his residence. Shives reported his ex-wife Crystal Caruthers, age 36, had broken into the residence and set a fire.

Upon officers arrival, they located a broken window on the residence.

Officers located Caruthers in the bedroom. Caruthers was provided medical treatment by the Great Bend Fire Department for minor lacerations to the right hand and then transported to the Barton County Detention Center, where she was booked into custody on requested charges of burglary and arson.
