Kansas sheriff's K9 found drugs during traffic stop

 JACKSON COUNTY (JASO) —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations.

Shortly before 8a.m. Sept. 26, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Acura LT on U.S. Hwy 75 and 214th Road near Holton for multiple alleged traffic infractions, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the driver was identified as Paula Louise Michael, 61, of Topeka, Kansas. During the course of the traffic stop a Jackson County Sheriff’s K9 alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics within the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in the discovery of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Michael was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, a hallucinogenic drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
