SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas teen who admitted to her role in a deadly hit-and run accident is scheduled for sentencing on Friday before Judge Chrystal Krier, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Last month, Peyton Allart, 19, Wichita, entered a guilty plea to leaving the scene of an accident that killed 28-year-old Jaz Brooks.
Just after 3a.m. June 23, 2024, police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Central and McLean in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.
First responders discovered a dark-colored Saturn involved in the incident. The passenger, identified as Brooks, was found trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced deceased. The driver of the Saturn received an evaluation by EMS for non-lifethreatening injuries at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a black Ford F-150 had collided with the Saturn on its passenger side and fled prior to law enforcement's arrival. Officers successfully located the suspect identified as Allart and the vehicle several hours later.
