BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide in Barton County and have a suspect in custody.
Shortly after midnight, police were dispatched to the homicide on the east side of Great Bend. Responders from the Great Bend Police Department, Barton County Sheriff's Office, and Kansas Highway Patrol set up a perimeter in the area, and a KHP airplane was utilized in the search. Areas were searched near the 1400 blocks of Park and Broadway, along Frey Street and the 281 Bypass, and as far north as 20th and 22nd Streets.
The first plane left the area at approximately 4 a.m., and a second plane was arriving as the suspect was apprehended. Police have released no additional details. Check the Post for more information as it becomes available.
