Kansas Forest Service and our state partners are supporting several fires across the southwest region. Many additional fires are burning at this time.Task forces from across Kansas have been deployed to support local resources, and many firefighters will remain engaged on incidents through the weekend as unfavorable weather patterns continue.
51 Fire – Located in Morton County, partially within the USFS Cimarron National Grassland. The U.S. Forest Service continues to staff and manage this fire.
Wolf Canyon Fire – Located in south-central Seward County. The fire has crossed into Oklahoma from Kansas. Kansas Forest Service staff are working to identify critical holding areas within that fire as we prepare for Sunday’s weather event.
Meade Lake Fire – Currently the largest fire burning in the region. This fire continues to occupy many state resources from across the state. The priority today is continued preparation for Sunday’s weather event.
County Road 16- Located in Clark County, this fire is over 11,000 acres. As with the other fires, priority is building solid containment in preparation for tomorrow’s weather. See less
