SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a fatal crash and are working to determine if gunfire was involved.

Just before 8:30p.m. Monday., police  responded to a report of a crash in the 4600 block of E. Mt. Vernon in Wichita, according to Officer Andrew Ford. Fesponders located two vehicles involved in the collision.

In the first vehicle, emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures on a 46-year-old man, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle’s other two occupants, a 45-year-old man and a 40-year-old man, sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

The second vehicle had three occupants. EMS transported  40-year-old woman and a 2-year-old girl to a local hospital for treatment. A 24-year-old man declined medical care.

Through further investigation, detectives now believe a possible shooting incident may have contributed to the crash. Police are working to confirm this and determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.
