Deadly weekend: Fourth victim dies hours after another KC shooting

KANSAS CITY—A Kansas City man wounded in a Sunday shooting has died.  He is the fourth victim in a deadly weekend of violence in Kansas City, Missouri.

Just after 7p.m. Sunday patrol officers were dispatched to 6th and Park in Kansas City on a reported shooting, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

Officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.  Kansas City Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Assault Squad detectives and crime scene personnel responded to begin the investigation. Preliminary information indicated there was an interaction between the victim and another individual in the street just prior to the shots being fired.

Just before 10p.m., detectives were notified by hospital staff that the victim died of his injuries. This is now being investigated as a homicide, and homicide detectives have taken over the case. 

In addition to the Sunday evening death,  One man died in a shooting in 1700 block of East 12th Terrace. Two others died from a shooting that injured three others in the area of 13th and Grand, near the KC Power and Light District.
