Kansas man who fled injury crash accused of DUI

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a man in connection with a 2-vehicle crash that occurred just before 5:30p.m. November 22, in Wyandotte County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Chevy Silverado driven by Nathaniel Dean Gray, 43, Kansas City, Kansas was westbound on Interstate 70 near 18th Street.  He was impaired, according to the KHP.

The pickup struck the drivers side rear of a westbound 2012 Chevy Silverado driven by  Eric Guzman-Bustillos, 26, Kansas City, Kansas.  After impact the 2012 Silverado struck the barrier wall and overturned. Gray fled the scene

Both vehicles were traveling Westbound on I70 around 18th Street. Driver 1 was impaired. Vehicle 1 struck the driver's side rear of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 then struck the barrier wall and overturned. Driver 1 fled from the scene.

 EMS transported a passenger in the 2012 Silverado identified as Itzel M.  Guzman, 26, Kansas City, Kansas, to KU Medical Center.  Eric Guzman-Bustillos was not injured. There were also to children in the 2012 Silerado; juvenile record is protected data, according to the KHP.

Gray was arrested on  requested charges of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, failure to comply with traffic citation and the leaving the scene of an injury accident, according to online jail records.  He has previous arrests in Wyandotte County for disorderly conduct; brawling, fighting and for marijuana possession, according to online jail records.
