KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a homicide in Kansas City.
Just after 3:30p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a reported shooting in the 3600 block of Indiana Avenue in Kansas City, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte.
Officers were summoned to a local business where they were being advised of someone shot inside. Officers entered the business and located a man unresponsive suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and declared the victim deceased. An additional adult male victim responded to an area hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries and was receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigation is believed an interaction occurred between two individuals inside of a store that escalated into gunfire. A person of interest has been detained for further investigation.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to gather any evidence and collect witness statements. Police have not released the victim's name.
