Juvenile wanted for double-homicide captured in NW Kansas

TREGO COUNTY —Law enforcement in northwest Kansas captured a suspect wanted for a double-homicide in Wisconsin.

On Saturdau, the WaKeeney Police Department while working traffic, stopped a vehicle who did not stop for a stop sign, according to a media release from Police Chief Michael Romero.

Police learned vehicle was stolen out of Wisconsin. The Trego County Sheriffs Office responded to back  up police as well as another member from the WaKeeney Police Department.

Information from the Wisconsin sheriffs office was that the person driving this vehicle could be armed with a handgun. The subject was taken into custody with no further incident. The subject was identified and found out to be a juvenile wanted out of Wisconsin in connection with a double homicide.

The juvenile did have items in the vehicle that were consistent with the information police had received from the Wisconsin sheriffs office.

All evidence was recovered by the WaKeeney Police Department and is being held for the Wisconsin sheriffs office. The subject is being held in a juvenile detention center, and is awaiting extradition.
