SHAWNEE COUYNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a registered Kansas offender for new crimses after an arrest.
Just after 3a.m. Tuesday, police observed a suspicious person inside Tortilla Jacks, 1618 SW Washburn Avenue, in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.
Police contacted the owners and received permission to enter as no one was permitted to be there.
Officers found damage to the property and eventually located the individual, later identified as Jeffrey E. Peak, 37, of Topeka, as well as narcotics. As a result of the investigation, Peak was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Burglary; Dwelling to commit felony, theft, DV, or sexually motivated crime, Criminal Trespass; Unknown Circumstance, Aggravated criminal damage >$5k; intent to steal scrap metal; infrastructure of building and Use/possess w/intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body.
