Sheriff IDs Kansas woman who died in pedestrian accident

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Authorities investigating a fatal pedestrian accident have identified the victim as 34-year-old Marjorielle Evens of Wichita, according to Sedgwick County Sheriff's Lt. Nathan Gibbs.

Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle verse pedestrian accident in the 4900 block of South Meridian on October 10th, 2024 at approximately 7:26 pm.

Just before 7:30p.m. Thursday, a 2017 Hyundai Accent driven by Shilo D. McMurphy of Wichita was northbound in the 4900 Block of on South Meridian, according to Gibbs. The vehicle struck Evans who was crossing the roadway on foot.  McMurphy did not see Evans, according to Gibbs. There were no indications of intoxication in either party.

EMS pronounced Evans deceased at the scene. McMurphy was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
