3-year-old dead, 6 injured after crash south of Kansas City

CASS COUNTY —A juvenile died and six people were injured in an accident just before 4p.m. Tuesday in Cass County, Missouri south of Kansas City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Sarah P. Hollister, 65, Brinkley, Arkansas, was eastbound on MO 7 just east of Freedom Road.

The SUV traveled off the left side of the road. The driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to skid and roll. A 3-year-0ld girl was ejected before the SUV came to rest in the median.  The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported Hollister and passengers Tyrone C. Harris, 41; Ashley V. Payne, 26; Kevon T. Johnson, 23, and two 10-year-old boys all of Brinkley, Arkansas to Cass Regional Medical Center.  Only one of the 10-year-olds was wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
