KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating the cause of a fire at an apartment in Kansas City.

Just before 1p.m. Monday, crews responded to a reported apartment fire in the 2800 block of Bellview on the west side of Kansas City, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

On arrival crews reported smoke from a two-story apartment. Crews quickly made an interior attack of the first floor apartment and discovered a kitchen fire in the rear of the structure.

The fire was quickly put out limiting the damage. A search of the entire structure was conducted and came back all clear.  One dog was found and removed and safely placed in the care of a neighbor.
