SEDGWICK COUNTY—The search for a man wanted in connection with the death of a woman in Wichita ended Thursday and on Friday police identified the woman who died.
Just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, 25-year-old Xavion Dates turned himself in to Wichita police at City Hall in connection with the fatal domestic violence shooting of his girlfriend, 22-year-old Aaliyah Wilson, according to a media release from Wichita Police.

His surrender was coordinated with family and violence interrupters.
Just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to an apartment complex at 330 S. Tyler after Wilson’s sister called police to report the shooting. Officers found Wilson with a gunshot wound to her upper body and performed CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced her deceased.
Through preliminary investigation, Wilson and Dates were involved in an argument before the shooting. Investigators identified Dates as the suspect.
Dates ran from the apartment after the shooting and committed a carjacking in the 300 block of South Turquoise, taking a white 2020 Toyota RAV4 from a male driver. The driver was not injured.
Officers later located the vehicle at 505 N. Rock Road. With assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol, officers established a perimeter and searched for Dates. Officers remained at the location to process the vehicle and continued the search until shortly after 3 a.m. Oct. 8.
Dates was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges of murder, carjacking, and theft. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of formal charges.
