SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas woman is in jail on a $250,000 bond for a crash that killed her 4-year-old daughter.

On Thursday, law enforcement booked 33-year-old Britnee Costello of Douglas, into the Sedgwick County jail on requested charges of Aggravated battery-DUI and involuntary manslaughter. She was charged on Friday, according to the district attorney's office.

In February of 2023, a vehicle driven by Costello was westbound in the 20,000 Block of MacArthur with children in the vehicle, according to Sheriff's Lt. Nathan Gibbs.

A Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputy and several citizens pulled Costello  and the two children from the burning vehicle.

EMS transported Costello, a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy to a local hospital where the girl later died, according to Gibbs.
