DOUGLAS COUNTY — Authorities are investigating after a 46-year-old Lawrence man tried to repeatedly stab a 38-year-old man.
Just before midnight Tuesday, police were sent to a residence in the 700 block of North 3rd Street for a report of two men allegedly fighting in the street, according to a media release.
When officers arrived on-scene, no one was actively fighting, but they soon learned the suspect had come to the residence intending to stab the victim.
Witnesses reported the suspect had brandished a knife and made multiple unsuccessful attempts to stab the victim. The suspect and victim were known to each other. The suspect was booked into the Douglas County Correctional Facility on requested charges of attempted first-degree murder. Police will present the case will to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration. No injuries were reported in the incident. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
