SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities  investigating alleged child sex crimes from 2012 have charged Wichita Police Department (WPD) Officer Joshua Hageman with two counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

The charges stem from the recent investigation of an incident that occurred approximately seven years ago and before Hageman was employed by the police department.

Hageman has been placed on administrative leave without pay, according to police department spokesperson Charley Davidson.

Wichita police officials recently learned of a 2012 incident involving Hageman, 20-years-old at the time, inappropriately touching two fifteen-year-old girls while at a home in Colwich, Kansas.

The incident was investigated and presented to the DA’s Office leading to the charges.

WPD officials requested the investigation involve the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, as part of a collaborative agreement to ensure transparency and avoid conflicts of interest.

Hageman has been employed as a WPD police officer for three years
