Public transit employees continue to work on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic, and OCCK Transportation wants to continue to thank our #HeroesMovingHeroes.

Join in today and “#SoundTheHorn” to honor and say thank you to all public transportation employees working through the coronavirus outbreak. At 2 p.m. (CT) today, agencies are asked to simultaneously sound two one-second horn blasts from vehicles in service.

The first #SoundTheHorn event on April 17 was incredibly successful with nearly 150 public transit systems participating. Join in today and let's see if we can top this number. Let's be proud and loud!

This continuing effort is spearheaded by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), together with NJ Transit, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Amtrak, NYC Ferry, and other regional bus and ferry operators.

UPDATE: Bridge repair in McPherson County to begin Wednesday

UPDATE: KDOT has updated the information concerning this project. It is now scheduled to begin on Wednesday and traffic will move through one 13-foot lane in each direction.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a twin bridge repair of the northbound and southbound bridges located on Kansas Highway 61 (K-61) over Blaze Fork Creek in McPherson County on Wednesday.

The bridges are located approximately one-half mile south of the K-61/Comanche Road intersection, just south of Groveland.

Traffic will be reduced to one 13-foot lane in each direction through the work zone. Drivers should expect minor delays, not exceeding five minutes.

PCI Roads, LLC of Saint Michael, Minn., is the prime contractor for this $314,000 project. The contractor has scheduled this project to be completed by August, weather permitting.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a work zone.
