Update: Authorities ID kayaker who died at Tuttle Creek

RILEY COUNTY — Authorities have identified the man who died Saturday at Tuttle Creek as Jose Francisco Ramos, 21, of Fort Riley, according to Hali Rowland with the Riley County Police Department.

Just after 2p.m. Saturday, the Riley County Police Department emergency dispatch center received a call reporting one person missing from a group of kayakers.

Search crews found his body late Saturday.

The Riley County Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Pottawatomie County Water Rescue Team, the Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County Rural Fire District, Kansas Wildlife and Parks, and the Army Corps of Engineer Rangers assisted with the search.

RILEY COUNTY —Emergency crews recovered a body from the water at Tuttle Creek, according to the Riley County Police Department. 

Authorities will release additional information as it becomes available.

RILEY COUNTY —Several emergency crews are searching near the Tuttle Creek ORV Park for a missing 21-year-old man last seen kayaking with friends, according to a media release.

Just after 2p.m. Saturday, the Riley County Police Department emergency dispatch center received a call reporting one person missing from a group of kayakers.

The Riley County Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Pottawatomie County Water Rescue Team, the Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County Rural Fire District, Kansas Wildlife and Parks, and the Army Corps of Engineer Rangers all responded and are currently on scene.

First responders asked the public to avoid the area while emergency crews work to locate the young man.
