Sheriff: Kansas burglary suspect had stolen items in vehicle

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have made an arrest.

 Just after 10:00p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a vehicle burglary that had just occurred in the 3500 block of SE 2nd Street in Shawnee County, according to Deputy Shayna Anderson.

The reporting party was able to give a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle.

Approximately one hour later a deputy stopped a vehicle matching that description at SE 2nd Terrace and High Street in Topeka.

The deputy located a stolen item inside and arrested Erick M. Weems Jr., 25, of Topeka and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the requested charges of burglary and driving with a suspended license.
