Police: Kansas man broke into house, battered 63-year-old

COWLEY COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have a suspect in custody.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday police responded to a residence at 706 S. Sixth Street in Arkansas City for a report of a physical disturbance in progress, according to Arkansas City police.

Officers learned 29-year-old  Blas Orlando Ibarra allegedly broke open the front door of the residence and entered without permission.

Once inside, he allegedly struck a 63-year-old man in the face and threatened to kill him.

During the altercation, the door was broken and then Ibarra left. He was found across the street and taken into custody without further incident on requested charges of felony  aggravated burglary of an occupied dwelling,  battery and criminal damage to property.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $25,000 bond
